Research

All of Cambrian’s key staff have advanced degrees in the natural sciences. Our day-to-day work puts us on the working end of biological and geological research, and from time to time we get the opportunity to publish our data. For certain projects generating peer-reviewed science is the standard since decisions made pursuant to the Endangered Species Act are to be made on the basis of the “best available scientific and commercial information”. In recent years we have contributed to the scientific record in the areas of:

  • Karst invertebrate taxonomy and phylogeography
  • Eurycea salamander ecology, population dynamics and distribution
  • Geophysical imaging techniques for karst habitat
  • Speleothem stable isotope geochronology and paleoclimate studies
