The quality of life in Central Texas is increasingly dependent upon balancing the needs of human population growth with aquifer protection. As millions of new Texas per year can attest, nothing is more valuable on an August afternoon than the ability to take a refreshing dip in a cool, clear spring-fed swimming hole. Regulation of activities in aquifer recharge zones is increasing. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality implements the Edwards Aquifer Protection Program and many other conservation programs mirror the structure of that program. Cambrian staff include a bench of veteran licensed geoscientists who are permitted and qualified to conduct karst feature surveys and investigations to support karst due-diligence permits. In fact, a pioneer of the TCEQ regulatory program is one of our karst geoscientists.
